I owned one of these guns back around 2000 or so and shot it for at least a couple of years. The trigger mechanism in the 450 Mag XHD is designed for heavy loading of triple bands. All in all, for its price, it was a decent gun. A lot of power for the $$$. Loud, cumbersome lineshaft, but packed a lot of punch. The barrel flex wasn't bad as far as I could tell then.. I killed a lot of fish with it. I've heard a lot of rig divers love this gun. Personally, I'd save my money and get something a bit more accurate and versatile.

Well, if you're freediving, the RA is better. But I'm pretty sure that more fish have been killed on JBL and AB than everything else. That $125 is a great price.

If you are freediving, definitely get the Rob Allen. If you are scuba diving, especially Rigs, you will probably do better with the JBL.

I really cant see why this should be a close debate, Rob Allens are a precise and powerful underwater weapon that has a great reputation and many skilled spearos are using all over the world.
As for all the JBL's that I have come across, they seem to be miles back in comparison.
Hope the RA is still for sale;)
