Fantasea Scuba in Port Charlotte, FL is organizing a technical training program for the beginning of October under Naui instruction. Jim Joseph will be the instructor.

The course outline includes the following:

Technical Nitrox using 25-60% EANx for bottom mix and 80% EANx for decompression following a depth of 130ft.

Helitrox using 26% oxygen / 17% helium with a maximum depth of 150ft that may require decompression. This section will include extensive education on oxygen toxicity, decompression sickness, omitted decompression stops, equipment failure and emergency planning.

Decompression procedures and theory including education and practice of planned stage decompression dives using EANx, helitrox and oxygen.

Prerequsites include 75 logged dives, 18 yrs of age, advanced open water and nitrox certifications. Equipment configuration must be discussed and prepared for in advance.

This is an excellent educational opportunity for anyone with the proper mental aptitude and physical abilities who may wish to venture beyond standard recreational diving. The total cost will be determined by the number of students interested. There will be a minimum of 6 dives.

Get back to me here,
Diver Joe :awink:

We are organizing a technical training program in the Port Charlotte, FL area :

I have some questions;
Who is the "we" in the we are organizing....
I see you are a new member with this being your first post..
And you're from Cape Coral (comming to Port Charlotte ..)
I'm really not trying to come off as a smart ass, but how about some more information.

Jim Joseph of Fantasea Scuba is the instructor. I think Joe is just looking for additional students to help lower the cost of the training.

Jim is a very good instructor with a great angle towards spearing and wreck diving. If anybody here has been thinking of some extended training I would highly recommend Jim. He also took 4th place grouper in this years St. Pete Open.

Welcome to Spear Planet Joe. Good Luck with your training, Have Fun and most importantly Dive Safe.

My sincerest apologies.,
I was coming from the point of view that we have two very good dive shops here in Port Charlotte, and a couple in Punta Gorda, why would I sign up with some guy coming up here from Cape Coral!
I agree with you about Jim, top notch guy,

Welcome to the planet Joe, Glad to have you. :yay:

In case you havent noticed we are a very tight knit community. If you put six random spearfisherman in room, odds are between them all they know 90%of the community personally. And we generally all look out for one another.

Jim and Fantasea are a great bunch,

Thank you Chris for the welcome!

I am the first student to sign up for the program with future interests in deep spearfishing and wreckdiving.

This will also help my sideline interests of caving. I just did cavern / cave intro with a great instructor from MS. Looking to get up to speed and start hanging with her group. :awink:

Hey Joe. Welcome. I think I have a few people who may be interested. Do you have a phone number for this dive shop? Can't seem to find it. Are you going to be traveling from the Cape? I dont think any dive shops around here offer any of these type of classes.

Hey caseyc,

Thank you! Yes I will be traveling from CC. Fantasea is my usual shop (unless I need refills on a Saturday afternoon. Hell I've already been there twice this week.

Thank you Seatux for the quick response!
