Hello,
I'm new here and need some help.
I tried a search but could not find my answer. I freedive/spearfish/out to 3 mi. off Miami. Sorry to post.
I have a RA Tuna 130 and wanted to put a kill spike on it. Does anyone have a kill spike on their open muzzel RA? How did you attach the kill spike to the alum barrel?
I thought of gently grinding the alum rail down in 2 places to allow 2 ss hose clamps to go around the barrel and the kill spike, but I don't want to grind the rail if someone else already has a better way.
I want the kill spike on the muzzel of my RA for; 1. To hold and fire a .357 PPD in self defense. 2. To use as a kill spike to brain a fish. 3. To poke away any threatening sea criter.
I read others posts about just loosening a shaft if need be on a shark in self defense, but I use a shaft line and freedive sometimes in 500fsw and don't want to loose all my gear. Also, there are a lot of tree huggers here on Miami beach and the worst publicity for me would be to have a shark with a spear shaft in him wash up on the public beach.
Sorry to be so long, just wanted to make my application and questions clear.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome. Please dont feel bad for posting. All questions are good questions. I assume you mean the kill spike which has a flat area with several holes for screws. Hose clamps wont work as it would interfere with the spear. I dont know what drill and screwing the spike would do for the gun. I use wooden guns and it is OK to screw into them, it might cause a problem with your gun-make it sink, weaken it or corrode. But it might be just fine. It has been a long time since I have owned a hollow tube gun, so maybe someone who has done this might help out. Steve.

stevemc1,
Thanks for the welcome and trying to help me.
My LDS said not to drill as the muzzel plug is only about 1" or so long and holes into the barrel could as you say let water in/air out.
I thought I'd just take an 8" piece of old shaft and ss hose clamp it against the barrel. I was in hopes of finding someone here that had taken their muzzel off and knew if the barrel/rail cross section would allow just the rail to be gently ground down enough to allow the ss hose clamps under the shaft. I would take my muzzel off but others have had a battle getting their muzzels off. Thank you for your help.
