Heres what the JLB/Keyskiller wreck looks like today. Filmed some on the wreck August 2008. A surface current was rippin keeping the anchor from grabbing, so Toby and I dropped a hook w/line and ball and hit the water while the ScarabCC circled the area. Blue ,Blue 84 degree water as we decended and the current soon disappeared . Ah crap, 20 ft above the wreck we lost the crystal blue and a layer of colder greenish water covered the bottom. Vis dropped from 100 ft of blue to 60 ft of green 80 degree water.
Still a great dive as JBL and Keyskiller found this wreck while trolling for mahi ,its remote and dive boats are never around. Lots more growth on the wreck this year. Another reason to hit Key West.

so, I'm laying on the bow shooting film and there he is, hiding in the sand. A black grouper who thinks if he lays real still by this single sea fan, I wont see him. I didnt spook him w/ a close up, so he would stay on the wreck, a kill for another day.

Nice pics! would love to dive it and see if a name can be uncovered on the stern or bow...

I think you ought to do some police work and find out info on wreck. I would love to know how exactly tht vessel made its way to the bottom.My favorite part is the dive ladder is still hanging on back !!! There is some current there for sure, its just sitting there out in the dirt, I almost feel honered to have been taken there !!!! Thanks Wade !!! Yes ,the wreck ID. Brad and I talked about, devoting adrop to scrape the transom for a name , etc. But...............time is short down deep and ,well thats not as much fun as spearin and explorin, so maybe some day! Its on the list. we'll get to it someday, I'm sure.

Jamie , I had fun showin you and Cory some remote sites off Key West. It was my plan to get you on the good stuff. Too many people never get to see the really cool stuff that exists , out of the tourist realm , west of it all ,and well worth the effort to leave the crowds behind.
