Another nice day freediving out of Miami with Pantoja, Freek, and two guys new to spearfishing. Water was warm although vis was a hazy 20-40' in most places. Currents played havoc with our diving, making us drift spots that we normally anchor. We spent the first part of the day deep but nothing really nice was home. We did hit a new spot in 100-120' that was full of massive muttons, these mutant fish were all 26-30 inches or more, but when you met them at 75 they headed for the bottom and the vis wasn't good enough to chase them all the way down. We'll definitely be back for them though.
We moved in for some shallow diving in 30-35' and found some muttons, hogs, and I grabbed the only 3 bugs that I came across all day, they are really being hit hard right now. Pantoja speared a nice black that was sharing a hole with some lobsters, he went 31" and had a scar from a previous spear, Pantoja made sure that he didn't escape a second time. Fish were a bit harder to find but we still managed a decent day. We drank a few cold beers on the way back in courtesy of Pantoja, thanks for everything bro! :toast:
