Got out with Matt (tiny) and brother John for a quick half day trip. started out with M & J drifting the 50' reef for a while producing a pair of margates and porgies.

moved in to check a familiar 40' area, and we ran into a couple of manatees diving with air-pumping hoses. It was actually interesting to watch them because they were or intended to be lobstering but not wearing any weights it was painful to watch those 2 fighting bouyancy, hovering a good 10 feet from the bottom, , that ain't going to work. Surprinsingly there were 2 legal gags in the area but spooky beyond belief, I tried to approach a couple of times but they quickly dissapeared. the lawn mower on top was in full force.

Matt and I decided to move out to the outside edge of the reef drop in 75', this is where it all happened. First drop Matt spots a big hog but could not get within range, he waves me over, I swim a little upcurrent (north ripping all day) do a brief cuban breatheup, drop and nail him, but not a kill shot and he thinks he's a grouper so he tries to hole up in a pipe section quickly pulled him out and dragged him up. Man, what a tough dive on little breathup.

after this we started drifting this line and picked up 7 triggers all from 5-8lbs, 3 muttons (17-18"), missed twice as many, If I wasn't such a bad shot, we could have had a limit of muttons, 30% accuracy for some reason they liked me out there in 70-80', they were not too spooky at all.

All in all, I had fun with some good friends and we filled the cooler,

hog was 23", one the big triggers,
