I bought a 52" SS commercial this weekend because the dive shop had a sale and I couldnt refuse the price they had on it. I moved up from a 48" SS classic so I now have 54" shafts and a gun that is meant to shoot 60" shafts. My question is has anyone ever shot 54" shafts out of a 52 commercial? The 54" shaft fits in the gun but I cant see the tip of the shaft at all. Should I just sight down the shaft to the muzzle and not worry about being able to see the tip? I really just need to get by for a little while until I get paid again. Thanks, Ed.

The shafts will work with the gun (trigger assembly) so if it's all ya got use them till you can get some 60's :D

Great upgrade BTW

Your probably used to sighting off the front of the shaft so shooting the gun when you cant see the shaft will mess you up a little it can be overcome but why.

For whats its worth just buy a few shafts, you'll be glad you did should you have a trophy fish swim up, it should be natural and wont be when you cant see your shaft. Goodluck

You really need to see the tip of the shaft in order to properly aim/shoot the gun. I recommend you get the 60" shaft for the gun.

I agree. I have a gun that uses 66" finned Biller/SS shafts, and got some that were in stock as I had bent some, and only had 2 left. The only in stock were 60" and stuck out just enough for the flopper to open-about 4" or so. I was used to having 10" of the spear sticking out, and used it and I was hitting an inch high-no stone shots, but got them. I sighted off the spear, and now it was different. I got used to it, or I guess sighted down the spear, and next time I was right on each time-stoned all. But now I have 2 different sized spears.

I'll probably just freeshaft the 60" lineshaft that came with the gun and toss a 54" freeshaft in the holder as a spare just to get me by for the weekend.

Divers Supply in tampa has the 60" freeshafts for 30 and the lineshafts for 50. They are Ray's shafts. I'm sure theres some place in Dunedin that has them as well.

I bought the same gun off of FinancialAdvis and love it. No complaints. it was a nice upgrade from a 42 biller.

Yeah thats where I bought the gun. I'll probably pick one up from there once pay day comes.

If you get in a situation where you need a shaft or two for awhile, let me know. I've got a couple you can use. If you bend them, you can owe me.
