We dont have time to make it to the keys, so we are going to try the Miami area for a few days of lobstering. Any suggestions on inexpensive (for the area) hotels that are either close to a boat ramp or have a dock? dog friendly would be great but not a must. thanks for any help!

probably your best bet is to find something in the S Miami area and use matheson hammock ramp.

There are Hampton Inns in coconut grove and the brickell area - both of which are pretty convenient to the Dinner Key ramp (the grove location slighty more so.) I do not know if the Key Biscayne ramp s still open.

Other optons are the Gables Inn or Holiday Inn across from UM - could then use either grove or matheson ramps.

Also depends on the size of your boat The Hampton Inns have a little more space for storage.

Do not stay on the beach. Not exactly trailer friendly. You could try the downtown Marriot and keep the boat in their marina.

That said, I would invest the extra hour or so each way and head to key largo.
