Man they are everywhere down by us. 100 feet or less seems to be the highest concentration. Fortunately with a slow ascent, seems like our bubbles tend to blow these guys out of the way. And we have seen hundreds at some spots. Some as large as a dinner platter.

If you look very closely you can see tiny fish actually living in/with these big jelly's. Must be some kind of symbiosis or something.

Symbiosis? You been reading again or something? j/k man. :D
Yea, they were pretty thick off of Hudson on Wednesday. I got popped pretty good one time when I was ascending. Another guy got one across the lips..he also got bit in the neck with a spider...oh and 2 blown regulator hoses. :D

Being the gentleman that I am, whenever my buddy gets stung on the lips, I always offer to alleviate the discomfort by peeing on the affected area:eek:

I was stung in when diving in 50-60 ft a few weeks ago.Couldn't see what was doing the stinging, pretty much trying to keep away from shallow water for a while--til the water clears up anyway.

It seems that between 10 and 40 or so they are thickest.

Last time I was out I saw the same thing, thick. Then a night or so later there was a big special on TV about how the Jelly fish are a big threat all over the world now, especially in Japan where they are devistating the fish harvest, or lack or it now.
