My family and I just got back from a vacation to Arkansas’s Lake Ouachita State Park (http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/lakeouachita/) . The lake is known to be one of the cleanest lakes in North America with visibility frequently up to 40’. Our timing wasn’t that great because hurricanes Ike and Gustav both dumped a lot of rain up there before we went, so the water, around the shorelines at least, wasn’t that great (5-8’ of viz probably), but it was still an awesome trip.

Most of the time was spent doing stuff with my family, which was the real purpose of the trip, but I didn’t pass up the opportunity to do a half day of diving. We only shot a few small bass, but it was really cool. There are a lot of scuba divers who dive the lake and they have charter trips out of the state park. Another good thing is that Arkansas has some of the least restrictive freshwater spearfishing regulations around. Hope you guys enjoy the pics. The other divers are extended family members who met us up there.

I was just up there about 3 months ago. I also hit it at a bad time and the vis was low.

I did do some freediving in Lake DeGray. I wanted to some scuba in Lake Ouachita but didn't have time. We went there our last day.

Nice country up there and some good pics you got.
