Went out of Mayport on Sunday with Clint, Brett (snapslap) and Travis. It was a little rough starting the day out but once we were offshore, the wind and the seas calmed to make for a nice day.
Brett and I went down first in around a 100' to where Brett immediately shot a nice sheepshead and started getting the flounder one after the other. A decent cobia came in to take a look so I took advantage of the situation with my new cayman, which shot perfect. Brett helped me wrestle down the cobia and once I got him, Brett sent it to the surface.
Next dive Clint and Travis dove a similar ledge and came up with a nice stringer full of flounder.
2nd dive was around 80-90' to where Brett and I saw several nice gags and Brett woke them up with his shaft alarm.
Next dive, Clint and Travis were able to spot some nice lobster but were about out of air when Clint attempted to trick one and was able to only grab an antenna. They came to the surface and Clint told us about the hole where he saw the lobster and said to look for the antenna in the sand. Brett and I jumped back in and headed down in search. Brett located the spot came and got me to where my surprise, lobzilla (as Brett called it) was eyeing us down from under his rock. As Brett was successfully tricking him into the sand, I was struggling to get the net and snare off of my hook. Finally after frantically fighting with the net I got it off and started after the lobster just in time for the bug to go back in his hole. Brett was tickling it my way and as I was trying to tickle him out from my angle he turned just right to where I dropped the net and grabbed with my hand. Brett located the bag and we stuffed the bug in the best he would fit.
Travis and Clint got a few more nice flounder and a couple nice mangos.
