Lynn and I are going to the marquesas Saturday, arrive out there Sunday morning, and hope to stay out for 6-7 days. We will be in the Free-Spear Its, a 25' Wellcraft Offshore with twin white evinrudes on a swim platform/bracket, name on the side, bunch of spearguns sticking up from rear, if anybody sees us. We have 2 blue biminis, for sun protection. So we should be about the only boat out there like that. We dont keep the VHF on much, so if anybody is out that way say hello. We will be anchoring in Mooney Harbor, South entrance in the evening.

Sounds a like a great trip, Steve. Water should be cooling down by then & you should have good grouper hunting.
May be a bit rough, though.

Mobile Diver we have been seeing big grouper and big muttons the last few times out there during the summer, but I know with the cooling it should be real good. Nailman, if you have as good a time as the trip dago and chum bucket did, you will have one hell of a trip! I have seen that boat tied up to the dock at the Dry Tortugas, and its a big one! Good luck.

Mobile diver thanks for the heads up, maybe wont get out there Sunday, we might wait until Monday evening to head out if it looks nice. Last time we went in June, it blew 25 KPH + for 5 days straight. The only days that were good, were the 1st day and the last day. Last day was fantastic, but we had enough ice for fish we got that day, and we had to get back to dock. We sat out there for all week, waiting for the weather to change, which they kept saying next day would be nice, but it wouldnt be. We tried to dive but the vis was crap, even tried scuba deep and it was still bad, and the bull sharks were real thick. Even in the anchorage they were all over the place. We tried H & L catching snapper day and night, and they would eat every one we hooked. We tolerated them the 2 days we did dive, but they really are a pain.
