View Full Version : My last post til Mar 08.
MerMan 08-15-2007, 12:30 PM well after traveling far and wide in search of fish, going to islands near home and faraway. we found the honey hole only to have me leave for 7 months the next day. This spot has the magical touch of what fish love, sandy bottom with coral heads and reef scatter here and there. There were Taman, Uku, long nose Taman, Coral trout, Mu, parrot fish, snappers and rabbit fish. The deeper you got the bigger the Taman got, but the good thing was you lay down on the bottom and the big ones will eventually come on you, I shot my beast in 30 feet of water. while kevin was busy harrassing the coral trouts, i was busy shoot everything that swam within distance of my 90 cm rob allen, doesn't have the power of my 130 and 140s, If I would of had my bigger guns i could of landed at least 10 big tamans and uku, thanks to kevin for being a good dive partnerm that big one pull me like crazy almost ripping the gun out of my hands. He had to put up a back up shot for me. All in all I have to say my last dive was absolutely phenomenal. see ya'll in March of 08.:(:(:(
so keep up the post and post the pics of your catch so i don't miss out too much, till then. dive safe!
MerMan 08-15-2007, 12:34 PM could of been a new record, maybe we should weigh our catch. I could of beaten paul "WOW" smith in 2 categories already.
Choke Fish 08-15-2007, 07:33 PM Awesome fish!!!!!!!!!!! That guy is big! Who is the stud in the blue shorts?
Brownsuit 08-15-2007, 07:53 PM That's a big b*tch :smnotworthy: Nice fish fellas.
Choke Fish 08-15-2007, 09:20 PM The place was littered with all sorts of fish... Errr still pissed about that coral trout, he was a beast! I was on bottom chasing him down but I had my single band 100 and wasnt sure on the range. Knowing coral trout I knew I could get closer to him since they like to stop and look while they cruise. He stopped twice and I had a shot I guess but I wanted a for sure shot since I felt my band was still to long and weak. Well he holed up in a coral head which I visited again and he was backing his fat ass out of the hole when... POW!!!! Got him in the rear and he holed up deeeeeep! My shaft was out one side of the coral head and my gun was getting beat up in the other side. There was no way to get to the fish so I just hanked on the line hoping his gills would close and he would come out but he didnt. :( I just hope that fish lives for another day. Im guessing he was 4-5kg.
We did this all with a 100 Rabi Stealth and a 90cm RA, my gun had one wrap if that of mono w/no reel and Merman had a doubel wrap w/no reel. It was a great dive for the last dive on Oki for him till March.
ApneaSpearo 08-15-2007, 11:58 PM nice job guys :toast:
Skinydiver 08-17-2007, 07:04 AM That is some awesome stuff fellas. Man if shooting was that good with a 90 and a 100, maybe I would have hit something with my flemsie ass bands and beat up shaft. haha Good job though, and good stories. See you this weekend Kev?
Brownsuit 08-17-2007, 07:27 AM I have rubber if you need to re-band your gun.

Skinydiver 08-17-2007, 07:32 AM Dude, that would be fantastic if you could hook me up. I would be more than happy to pay for them. I've tried ordering them through Aimrite twice. I guess Rick is really busy.
Brownsuit 08-17-2007, 07:38 AM I like 3 1/2 ft of 16mm, and plenty of 14mm and 20mm, what do you need? Aimrite uses 16mm I think, when I re-banded my 100cm I used 14mm and it worked pretty good.
Skinydiver 08-17-2007, 07:44 AM I'm not positive man, this would be the first band replacement, that I have done. Though it has been needing it for at least 3 months. I do know that the length should be 20 and 22 inches. My 90 is aluminum. What do you recommend?
Brownsuit 08-17-2007, 07:46 AM I `ll bring all three and we`ll figure it out.
CheekyBastard 08-17-2007, 07:48 AM Hey brownsuit are you headed up to hedo this weekend? I will be up there tomorrow. Somebody told me where some tuna are.
Skinydiver 08-17-2007, 07:49 AM Thanks a lot. That typhoon isn't going to bother us too much, if at all. I think we might dive in a little rain, but other than that it'll be alright. I think. Do I need to bring anything to assist in the band replacement? How much should I pay you?
Brownsuit 08-17-2007, 07:50 AM Yeah, I was just talking to Skinny about Hedo in the AM. What time are you headed up?
Skinydiver 08-17-2007, 07:50 AM Hey Rob, did you make it out on Prayot's last dive? That must have been awesome. See you North?
Skinydiver 08-17-2007, 07:51 AM It's probably not the best thing to do before a day of diving, but it is the best thing after a week in the hot sun. I'm going to drink my scotch now. see ya'll manyana. :2gunsfiring_v1:
Brownsuit 08-17-2007, 07:53 AM I have the supplies, don`t worry about it. You can buy me a beer later :toast:

CheekyBastard 08-17-2007, 10:42 AM I think I will be there by about ten at the latest. Hopefully earlier than that though. Launching off the beach then swinging around the point. Big waves on the north side of the point.
MerMan 08-17-2007, 11:19 AM hey, hey, hey niggas. touched down here in beautiful Kuwait where the sun bores that heat on you, it's only 105 degrees here so it's still warm. anyways make sure you post some pics so i can keep track of what you niggas be gettin. don't be gettin my yak all messed up now kevin, that beast is one heavy kayak though.
Skinydiver 08-17-2007, 11:22 AM Glad to hear you made it safe. Now stay that way.
