Default Registration???????

I own a documented vessel. Do I still have to register it with the state?????? I know I don't have to show numbers.

In Florida, if the documented vessel is in the state 90 days or more you have to get a state registration sticker but they use your Coast Guard Documentation number and all you do is put the sticker on where it can be seen.

Yes, the state wants their fair share of your hard-earned $, so you have to register even though its documented. I had this same issue with the boat I just got... basically paying twice to use it really SUX!!!!!

How do they prove that you have been in the state for 90days? The lady at the registration office said she had no idea how they would do that.

But there is no way for them to prove that the boat has been in FL continuously for 90 days.

There are many ways for them to prove it if they wanted to.

Why perjure yourself for 50 or 60 bucks?

Very good point.

With a Documented Vessel, you have to have an address on it somewhere, at least in Florida you do not pay tangible taxes on it, like you would in some states.
