Default Las Perlas or Panama City, Panama spearing

Had a last minute opportunity to go to Panama City, Panama in a couple weeks. Going to be staying in Panama City near the Canal. Anybody have any good advice on where to spear or experience on who to contact (charters etc.) down there within a reasonable distance from Panama City. I think Morrito Negroso and Hannibal Bank may be too far with the duration of the trip but ideally Las Perlas or similiar for day trip or two day trip.

Morrito will be too far unless you have more than 4 or 5 days. Depending on your time you could take a jumper flight from Panama City to Changuinola and then hit up Bocas Del Toro. If you can't swing that then take the ferry (the fast one, not the slow one) to Toboga, small island just outside of the canal on the Pacific side. There you should be be able to hook up with some local fishermen that could take you to some pretty amazing places.

The Perlas are protected so I don't think you'll be able to do much legal shooting around there. Not to say it's not done though.

I lived down there for a few years before moving to FL, awesome country.

Forgot to add that most of the Panama City charters are out on the Ft. Amador causeway, not very far from the airport.

Drop Scuba Panama a line. I used to use them on weekend dive trips when I was stationed down there.

Thanks, Bryan. I knew 4 days would be a little ambitious for the camp up North. I will have to check these out- I hadn't thought of the ferry to Toboga.
