Default BC repair

I have a BC that has a slow leak in the bladder. Is there a way to repair it?

you can try some aqua seal. I hav e used it in the past with good results, but, if it is in a removable bladdder similar to the dive rite or zeagle, i would reccommend replacing the bladder. The bc's I've repaired are still working after at least a year

If the inner bladder is urethane, you can get a patch kit for it. Let me know if you need one.

If it is a single bag bladder, aquaseal will probably do the trick!

It's a Dacor bc. I don't think it's a removable bladder. Just need something temporary until I can grow up and get my Stilletto.

Aqua Seal will work fine. Just give a good 24 hours between applications to ensure it dries well. Follow the directions and it is almost foolproof.

When you use aqua seal use the cotol 240 hardener, it makes it dry faster, but thats not why I say to use it, the 240 keeps it flexable. Without it you can end up with a hard glob. I get allot of wetsuits in here really messed up with aqua seal home repairs.
Another thing, clean the area well before you apply it, I like to use toluol.

Seatux is that something that my local dive shop would carry? I was able to get some aquaseal but didn't know to look for the cotol 240 also. Do you do BC repairs also? Let me see if I can do it myself and if not I'll send it over to you if thats ok.

The dive shop should carry it, and yes it is something you can do yourself, just be sure to clean the area and use more hardener than suggested, and put it on thin, you can always add another coat. Position it wet side up, (flat) the stuff has a habit of running.

THe company that makes both Aquaseal and Cotol 240 (McNett I think) sell the products together, if the vendor chooses to buy them that way. The Cotol 240 works well, but it has a shelf life and will dry on you if left on a shelf longer than say... 6 months give or take a few. I never noticed a difference in the flexibility of the seal after using the Cotol 240, I'm definately going to check that out next time, because I know when I've used Aqua Seal without the Cotol 240 it does end up pretty stiff.

I've Aqual Seal-ed wetsuits and bladders with it, it does the job. Honestly, the stuff called GOOP at walmart works just as well. I think there is even a Marine version of GOOP. It's like 3 bucks, in the glue/adhesives aisle.

Ok thanks, does it get mixed like epoxy? The hardner and the aquaseal or does one go on the area to be fixed first than the other?

Mix as if it were an epoxy, very well, and use more than suggested, then brush it on. It is actually stronger when it can flex, (VS hard as a rock, full strength).

If it's a bladderless design, put a drop of Dow Corning 5200 on the rip, then a piece of toilet paper over the fresh 5200 and squish it down with your thumb.
Just leave the tissue in place.
