Default looking for advice on marine radar

Hi guys,

I recently bought a 23.5ft cat with twin 115's. I'm going to be diving off of it in southern california and a radar is going to be very helpful at night and in the unpredictable fog. I am pretty new to boating and was hoping you guys could give me an idea of reliable radar brands/models that don't break the bank. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. The boat already came with a gps and fish finder but neither unit has radar capability.

Thanks,
Ramin

Furuno is hands down the best radar.

A small 18" or 24" radome should work fine. Unless you need to see flocks of birds.

An upgrade to a Garmin combo with radar overlay on GPS plotter is another cheap option.

Yep what he said.

I have always had luck with Furuno. Your saying you don't want to break the bank, and I dont know what the bank is but radar systems are not cheap. I have been looking and found a few year old system for 1500 and that was cheap. I think you can get a new black and white furuno for around 1600+ if you want color you can safely add another grand to that unless you talk to FIZ he may beable to hook you up with a deal
