Default cold water headaches?

Went divin 25' -45' FSW, average temp was about 65F. After every drop i came back to the boat with a headache...........subsided in 20 min or so but they hurt! No clearing issues up or down and no mask pich or any other problems. No quick assents or out of range down times. Dove air the entire time from a reputable source. No hangover or mind altering subtances involved. Just a nice day on the water.

i was only wearing a 3mil suit but never had shivers or anything indicating being overly cold. i have been diving as cold as low 50's with a 3mil full body and dont remember this being a problem in the past

Any insight or experiance with this issue? Thanks

Happy Hunting

I also get headaches when diving in cold water. Nitrox seems to help a lot, I still get them but their not so bad.

Default might have found my own answer

I dont know if this is the answer but i do hold my breath a lot when stalking fish or calling a big snapper out of rocks. I also use very little air compared to others. maybee the cold water makes it worse?

According to: http://scuba-doc.com/headache.html

CO2 Retention
Due to skip breathing, gear malfunction, rebreather failure. Causes a "sick headache" type of generalized pain and can be associated with nausea and vomiting. The tendency to retain CO2 may be suspected in divers who frequently experience post-dive headaches or pride themselves on low air-use rates.

Not breathing will do it, I get it every time I am on Scuba for that same reason.

Yes, CO2 build up is your problem. I freedove mostly before scuba. I had to train myself to breath enough in order to prevent them.

Tight wetsuits restrict your breathing, causing shallow breathing. Concentrate on deep breaths and realize that whenever you hold your breath to stalk fish it contributes. Exertion will amplify it as well.

Those headaches really suck and can ruin your good time.
