Default Amberjack amendment 35

The council is proposing to close the Red Snapper in just under 40 days AND also close Amberjack season for the rest of July (a 20 day gap) -- doing this means there are no “Trophy” fish to fish for most of July – the Peak of the Charter Season. And from what I’ve heard the commercial and Charter captains are way past mad about the snapper situation already. This is Not a good situation for the fishery or the fishermen.
The following solution gives them their Snapper early, adds about twenty days to the proposed AJ season, lets the pregnant female AJ lay their eggs, adds about 300,000 # of AJ to the buffer, AND opens AJ for the summer rodeos.
Right Now we have:

Snapper Opens June 1
Closes July 10? (40 Days)

AJ Closes June 1
Opens July 31

Note: The AJ are breeding in May
Fla catches 300,000 lbs of AJ in May

IF WE WENT TO THE FOLLWING EVERYBODY SHOULD BE HAPPY (?)!!!!!!!!!

Snapper Open May 1
Closes June 10? (40 days +-)

AJ Closes May 1
Opens June 10

PROBLEMS SOLVED:
1.) You don’t over fish the snapper
2.) The breeding AJ get to breed
3.) You add approximately 300,000 lbs to the AJ buffer
4.) You add approximately 20 days of fishing to the AJ season (which means more trips for the charter fleet)
5.) The charter captains sell their extra trips at the PEAK of the fishing season
6.) AJ is open for the summer Rodeos

If you agree PLEASE forward your response to: Comment Form
The only way the Gulf council will change their mind is if they hear from us!!!!!!!

thanks Walter,

that's about the best we can ask for with the NMFS Fatally Flawed Data. Now if they'd send one of their so called scientist down with me to see the actual red snapper problem. But they'd rather stick their heads up their asses, in a hole or in some of their bullshit statistics instead.

Roy Crabtree, did I tell you yet in 2012, YOU SUCK? If not here it is, you f'king lame ass, no fishing, bullshit regulation making, up the ass fagot. You don't know shit about fishing from a hole in your ass. Get down in the real world, my world, to see the bullshit you are spewing.

Always making friends,

I am not a fan of Mr Crabtree. I will say this however. I called him and emailed him. He called me back the following morning and talked to me for several hours. Don't get me wrong, I don't like him anymore now than I did prior to the phone call. I will say this however; he stated no one ever shows up for any of the councils meeting other than commercial fisherman. There are only 811 commercial reef permits in the entire GOM last time I checked. Less than 1200 charter permits for the same area. How many tens of thousands of recreational permits are sold each year for the same 5 states?

We all, myself included complain a lot on different social media, but don't have a consolidated voice. If anyone knows a solid lawyer that would draft a form letter stating all of the problems we are facing that may help. If we could do a letter campaign using this letter, and send it to our Federal and State representatives that may help as well.

Don't get me wrong, by no means do I think that the government has our best interests at heart. The issue is, according to him no one shows up for the hearings, except the commercial guys. How much truth to this, I don't know. Like many of us I have never attended a meeting.

Just my two cents. I want to be able to make a difference. I just think we all need to figure out a solid way to do so.

Thanks.

Chris

Many times I've organized several people at those bias meetings, all to no avail. I've come to the conclusion the the Gulf Council process does not work. It also looks like the State of Louisiana has finally come to that conclusion as well. I can't wait until all 5 Gulf States go non-compliant and tell Gulf Council where they can go.
