Well another SPO has gone by and I came close but ended up in 4th place with a 71lb carbo. I don't have an exciting story about multiple bent shafts, back dives or rugged carbo noodling. I dropped on the spot in 160 feet and saw a nice black cruising the top of the ledge and as I closed the gap he made a turn and I let loose. He quivered a little as he settled onto the hard bottom. Got him on the stringer and looked at my computer and I was only 4 minutes into my dive. Nice relaxing trip to the surface and another carbo in the cooler. Still I came up short and I am looking forward to next year already. Congratulations to all the winners and to all the SPUCS who continue to put on the greatest tournament year after year.

Very nice black! Pretty stiff competition when that's a 4th place fish. Nice job on the shot, always nice when they slowly just sink to the bottom after hitting them.

A trophy fish by anyone's standards Frank!
![]() I wish mine would have come that easy. My hands and arm look like I was in a motorcycle wreck.
