After the awards ceremony it was brought to the attention of the tournament committee that the 1st place hogfish was allegedly shot on the Friday before the tournament. The tournament committee led a 2 week investigation into the issue and concluded that there is sufficient evidence to indicate the rules of the tournament were not followed with respect to the 1st place hogfish.
As a result of the investigation Cory Moon was disqualified from the 2011 St. Pete Open. The resulting top 3 hogfish winners have been contacted by the tournament committee and are aware of and satisfied with the results.
The integrity of the St. Pete Open is priority one
with the St. Pete Underwater Club and tournament committee and they all worked diligently to make the best decisions for the tournament, for all 2011 SPO participants and future SPO participants. Official results for the 2011 St. Pete Open will be available soon on www.stpeteopen.com
