Default Southern Open Results

The official results will be placed on this site once we get a chance to recover.
I would like to thanks the SPUCs and the Florida Freeshafters for running the weigh-in. The TBSC and Seals for running the prizes, banners and awards ceremony. The Gulfcoast Underwater Hunters took over the T-shirt sales and the FRA/JBL raffle and they were awesome. The Salty Sea Wenches ran the photo contest. Running the photo event is a lot of work and Cindy and Heather really stepped up. It was also great to see the Clearwater Hogs joining all the other clubs and their helpers filled in the gaps.
All the FSDA Officers and Reps, STEPPED UP AND I BELIEVE WE ALL WORKED TO PRODUCE ONE OF THE BEST SOUTHERN OPENS IN MANY YEARS. We had over 170 participants and we had divers from Indiana, Georgia, North Carolina, California and Virginia. Also, a big thanks to Bill VanDemon and Jay Wilson for running our Key West and St. Augustine Captians meeting.
Lastly, Andrew Clevland is nothing short of awesome. Andrew with John and Emily Russell always volunteer and always keep all the data processing and info stuff together.
Basically, this is a major group effort and I truly thank each and everyone person who came forward and offered their help. There were many to do this and each and everyone of you made the 46th Southern Open a success.

As always this was a smooth running, well oiled machine. Thank You, all who worked it! It was good to see faces I havent seen in a few weeks or months, and all the great prizes. The ceramic handmade jugs were fantastic! We thought Andreas had the largest AJ until the last fish was weighed in. Bill were you sandbagging us? You held out till the last second. You did say when it was weighed in it looked close! Congrats on that big AJ.

Just wanna say thanks to everybody that made this happen. It was a great event and a great turn out. The weigh in ran very smooth. Congrats to all the trophy winners, those were some impressive fish! It was great to meet and say hi to everyone. Hope to see you all at the St. Pete Open. Just finished filleting all the fish, now it's time to break out the food saver. Will

I only got a limited amount of photos from one of the FSDA volunteer photographers. I will try to post pics of winners with trophies when I get them. Some of these photos have the first place winners. Included is first place Grouper, Frank McCallister; first place Snapper, Chad Cambell; first place, Amberjack, me; top female and top junior, Shelby with her ARS; spearfisherman of year, Jerry Lancaster with his Grouper. Others are just a small sampling of the fish that were weighed in.

Congrats to all the winners! Absolutley awesome job done by Bill, Scott and all the countless others involved. Shelby and I can't thank everyone enough for the opportunity and support to participate in such a great event. Truely the best fathersday gift ever.

Bill's freeshafted 80 pound jack was unbelievable! Tournament fish of a lifetime!

2nd that, congrats Jerry. Was stoked to hear yesterday afternoon that top honors went to you. Especially since you even considered not driving your fish over

Thanks Pat. I can't begin to describe what a joy it is to teach and coach your child in your chosen pastime. We spend hours talking about every aspect of the trip from start to finish. It is a connection with my daughter that I cherish on a daily basis.
Without a doubt, your bags are one of the key components to an enjoyable and successful day on the water. People really underestimate the importance of comfort when it comes to keeping a diver’s fatigue level manageable. Shelby has told me many times that without them it would be nearly impossible to push through to finish the day. Just knowing she can go to the stern and plop down comfortably between spots makes a huge difference.
For those of you who want to get your family involved, Pat’s bags are invaluable in keeping everyone comfortable. Now if you can just design one for the boat driver.

What a great time it was yesterday and this weekend!

Congrats to the guy who left me several messages before I got in wanting to know if it was worth driving over. What a dick!! Congrats Jerry.

I would like to thank ChuckD for taking me out and putting me on some fish. Its always a blast diving with you guys. I do think that I should start coming over more on friday nights though..

Here is a pic of a decent stringer that I had.

Wow Ritchie! That is a sick stringer! It is hard to fathom a 200 plus score like that!

I can't say enough about the job that Capt Bill, Bottom Dweller, Andrew, Howie, Trey, AJ, Chris, Dean and all the club volunteers did to make this such a smooth and great time. I wasn't even going to shoot a couple weeks ago until I spoke to Bill and Scott at the pre-registration meeting and I am sure glad I did. The winners and their fish were truly impressive! Congrats to all of you and especially Shelby. Your speech for your dad and giving away your Jr. prize was as impressive as your stringer!
