Attached are the rules and registration form for the 2009 West Coast Council Series which start on May 9th, at the Anclote Ramp. This first meet will be hosted by the Suncoast SEALs, winners of the 2008 season!

We've made some changes to rules this year that we feel will make it easier for more divers to get involved and shoot in the tournament. In an effort to make it somewhat easier to shoot in a tourney that may be far from your boat dock, all Pre-registrants can save $40 and skip the mandatory early morning check-in but they still have to wait until 7:30am to leave their dock. To take advantage of the early registration savings and convenience factor, divers must register before April 30, 2009.

Also, no more different sizes for the fish. Federal regulations determine the eligible fish sizes. We're all big boys and girls who know how to follow the rules. Please don't make me eat crow on that either

The tournament registration info, rules, dates and other pertinent information will be on the FSDA website by March 5, 2009.

I'd also like to say welcome to our newest dive club in the FSDA, the “Gulfcoast Underwater Hunters”!! They already have over 20 paid members and they are itching to join the rest of the FSDA members for our events and fun. They meet at Jim’s Dive shop in St. Pete. They are a co-ed club that does spearfishing and other dive activities. If you would like to find out more about our newest FSDA club, call Teresa at Jim’s at (727) 393-3483. 5/15/09 -UPDATE

There has been some significant modifications to the rules. The attached document is the latest and greatest. PRINT IT OUT, everything in BLUE is new. Make copies and pass them out to your club members/friends who do not get online. The changes address eligible fish sizes and penalities for submitting short fish at the weigh in. The penalities are significant so please be sure to pass along the information to all club members or friends that participate in the WCC series. We have also added some coverage for those who would like to participate for only one meet. Again, all additions or changes have been highlighted in bold blue color.

Just wanted to say thank you to those who have already mailed in their pre-registration forms and payment Looking forward to our first meet in May!

Hey guys (and gals), you have less than 3 weeks to mail in your pre-registration form and money for this year's WCC. All pre-registration forms must be RECEIVED by April 30th, NOT post-marked.

By pre-registering you'll be able to save some money and take advantage of the new rule for this year:

So by pre-registering you can leave from your home port or dock for ALL the events and skip the mandatory morning meeting.

Pre-registration for all 4 events is $100, late registration is $40/event.

During this week's FSDA meeting some items were discussed and there will be a couple MINOR rule changes. Weigh-in times will be slightly modified and now that the FSDA has a new dive club (Gulfcoast Underwater Hunters) we will also be adding a trophy recognizing the best overall female shooter for the year.

May 9th is approaching quickly, looking forward to it!

The following in bold was added/changed:

Series Competition 3 out of 4 Day Competitions:
Individuals: The top three (3) day competition totals for each diver will be totaled at the end of the year, and trophies awarded to the top (5) individuals, and the top female diver. A Top Female trophy will only be awarded at the end of the year if at least five (5) different female shooters participate in any of the 2009 WCC series of tournaments.

I know I'm repeating myself but thank you to all those who have sent in their pre-registration forms. I have close to 20 already You have less than 2 weeks to get your's in if you haven't done so already!

A mistake was found last night in the rules. The attached rules have been updated. The mistake was the weigh-in times. Previously we had 6 PM for WCC 1, 6 PM WCC 2, 7 PM WCC 3, and 6 PM WCC 4.

The correct weigh-in times are as follows:

6 PM - WCC 1
7 PM - WCC 2
6 PM - WCC 3
7 PM - WCC 4

Basically all you have to remember is that the weigh-in times at the Anclote Ramp meets are all 6 PM.

Received 5 more pre-entries last night, over 20 now so keep them coming!!
