Default Middle Grounds Mix

What mix do you use when you go to the middle grounds?

Do you normally take different mixes for the shallow stuff like maybe one tank of 36? and the rest 32 - 30?

or do you take all the same mix of say 30 - 32?

Just wondering what everyone's preference was.

30-32% is a generally a good mix. If you think there is a good chance that you will be hitting shallower then use your discretion and bring one higher mix. But better to have nitrox that you can dive, than be in 125 on the fish and have to leave because you have too high of a mix. Read the H.S. report and see what he said about mixes....

Just bring 30-32 mix. Using 34 mix instead of 30-32 isn't going to do much for you in the MG. If you have 34 mix and see a great fish show at 130', you're going to cry. I even dive 30-32 mix inshore in 70'-100'. I never know if I'm going inshore or to the MG. For every 10 dive trips. I may do 1 inshore. Not going to waste my time dumping MG mixes and topping off with air for inshore diving. I still get all the bottom time I want. Hope this answers you're question. Also, a transfer whip comes in handy in the MG. Pays for itself after a few trips.

At 1.6....I like 32%, but usually have one or two 34% bottles. IMHO the 34's are ok on almost all dives as long as you stay primarily on the tops. 34% also seems to help to increase overall bottom time. Ditto on the transfill whip...they are a great investment.

You are not always on the bottom Cordes, therefore I usually dive 32 mix in the grounds at 1.6 up to 8 dives a day without going into deco.
