Went out for a quick dive to the Orange Tug at South Pinellas reef as an introductory first open water dive for my sister in law who wanted to see some Goliaths. As soon as we hit the wreck we were surrounded by about a hundred 30-40" Amber jack. Ive never seen this many quality Jack in close, so i figure they heard about the closure and were just screwing with us.

Grouper have that same sense of security it seems, when the closure is in effect the big ones just hang out with ya.

We saw the same thing last week in about 60'.
As soon as they close the season, they show up in big numbers. |
