I saw a post on one of our fine Spearfishing organs the other day and, before I could take a pic of mine, the post was gone.
Here's mine. Boy, what a ratty lookin’ gun. We didn’t have all the exotic, modern, Trigger mechanisms. This is a 1950 style Ray and Bill Odor gun. The shaft is 3/8” S S. Wishbone notch is in the back end of shaft for max sling.Note the3/16” pin just below shaft. A hole in the shaft fits down on it. Shaft is released by squeezing the cam trigger to lift shaft off pin. A pin below the Band Groove held the slide ring down into the groove on the gun stock. Free Shafts were un-heard of back then. We used 3/32” SS cable as a line. Those Channel markers and bridge pilings would cut any line we could buy , with a big Jew fish at the other end. Results: Many good Tampa Trident Club Fish Fry’s and lots of Grouper and Snapper fingers served at the old Sea Breeze Restaurent. Click on picture and Enjoy, Ray Ray Odor Diving Service 2527 E.149th. Very cool Ray, thanks for sharing! You should add to this post some of the history and pictures you have of your workshop.

Maybe they'll open Jewfish again and it can come out of retirement.

I've seen one similar down at Howard's place up on the wall. Definitely a piece of history there

Ray,
Is the address you have listed a shop as I need to get a spare shaft and spare shaft holder for my sea hornet? I live about 15 minutes from there so shipping doesn't make sense. Let me know |

No, we're not a store front shop. My machine shop is on my lot in the back of my house. Make sure you call first, cause I'm chief cook and bottle washer, do pick ups and deliver mail. Just don't come in that sleek lookin' plane. Not enough room for landing.
Ray P.S. Bring your gun, you may want to convert to the Daneman double shaft and light holder. Ray Odor Diving Service 2527 E.149th. Ave.,Lutz,FL33559 e- fishship@tampabay.rr.com Ph.813-971-3368 Fax 813-364-6367 Web- www.spearfishing.cc Last edited by Ray Odor; 03-12-2010 at 09:16 PM. |
