Hi I'm new 'round these parts (the forum) and was wondering if anybody had any info about some kayak dives in the tampa bay area. I was thinking some of the shoal/range markers could be good for a cobia or so. Who knows, i've never done it before but frequently Kayak from north shore beach in st Pete. So what do you fellas think? Thanks. Dan

Not a bad idea for an early morning summer trip. My largest cobia came off a Tampa Bay marker 2 summers ago, 48 lbs. Better know your currents, limits, and don't keep the fish in the water any longer than you have to as there are some big bulls and hammerheads roaming the Bay during summer season (when the cobia come back).

NSEARCH, that's my biggest worry about summer dives in the bay. My Lt was bit years back by a large bull right off the pier. Tore him up! Anyway thanks for the reply.

Nop, it's Rick. He made all shows on shark week, it's so easy to give him a hard time. He's a damn good diver though and one of my mentors.
