Hey guys/gals!

I was sent here by a local boat captain (Pat Green)...apparently this is where all the who's who of spearfisher's hang out . Me and a buddy are pretty new to the whole diving/spearfishing scene and we want to try it out before we go crazy and spend a bunch of money on spearfishing equipement. Unfortunatly is almost impossible to find a charter that will supply or rent guns. I would be greatly in anyone's dept who could recommend a charter (or a few guys looking to make a couple bucks ) that would take out a few newbies in exchange for some greenbacks and a case of miller light for the boat ride home .

I actually have a boat myself, so if there is anyone local who has equipment but no boat maybe we can work out a good deal for both of us!

justkiddin...There are many experts on this site that can guide you in the right direction. take your time and LEARN before running out and buying gear..it'll save you time and $$.

Depending where you are at sunrise scuba on 19 in Port Richey is a great place to check out. He rents guns for $40 and can hook you up with a resonable charter.

thanks for the lead salty! i may consider that as an option but it is a 7 hour drive from here...That would make a 9am fish a pretty early morning!

Patrick! i was wondering if you would turn up on this thread!!! Thanks for the advice on the phone. Im interested in a night dive sometime in the near future. If you get a boat that needs 2 guys to fill it up feel free to drop me a line!

Relapse is actually just a friend helping me whore some links to my website across the internet. I am PatMyGreen on most of the forums I participate in. I will let you know about the night dives, hopefully the swells will lay down fast after Ike gets past us and things will be a go.

If wish I was able to rent out guns or even able to get guns cheap enough that replacing them wouldn't be a big deal. The manufacturers (I like anyway) don't let people without a "full service" dive shop sell their product and I am taking business away from several dive shops by running my charter. So they aren't looking to cut me any favors.

I am sure somebody with more guns than they can use will need a dive buddy or two in the area. Another idea might be to join he Emerald Coast Spearfishing Club, I am not sure when they meet I know they have alot of beginning level spearos so and divers without their own boats....

I have a couple of guns I am not using. Both 48" mid handle. I'd be willing to trade a 1 month loaner program for a couple of pitures and a couple dozen oyesters at Billy's over on Thomas. I can deliver them there next week around Tuesday-Wednesday.

Although I would guess that you are freediving, it might be good to list that in your signature line. Also put your location under your avatar so as you are on other threads, guys can see where you are based out of.

It might also help to list what depths you can obtain along with how often you are willing to play anchor bitch.

Then again, you already might have shot yourself in the foot by saying you have been taking advice from Pat.

To answer your questions though. I'm more interested in fishing with a tank and a reg . And as far as depth? im pretty comfortable going up to about 100ft or so.

What in gods green earth is anchor bitch??!

Anchor bitch is a loving title for the guy on your boat that has the honor of pulling the anchor. We have made a game out of it in the past, where they guy who shoots the ______ fish has the honor all next trip. This can be a real "fun" assignment of you are in over 100' of water and have the recommended amount of chain on a 26' boat. As this assignment gets passed around a boats crew it is very common for the "bitches" to chip in and buy an anchor ball setup that does all the hard work for them. Its way more cost effective then a windlass.

Yes it is Roger, A lady spearo!! The rarest and most stunning of marine life in the Florida panhandle. Courtney is a strong diver that I have taken out several times. She has decided to get into spearfishing and has done well so far on the public numbers while on regular scuba charters. Now she is looking for some reef action.
