Default Becoming a Better Freediver

This wind sucks, and with very few new posts to read, I thought I'd put somthing up.

I have been freediving (snorkeling really) for over 30 years. All I know to do though is to hold my breath, dive down, and come up before I run out of air.

Can anyone recomend any books to help improve my technique? How about the freedive courses? Are any available on the west coast of FL?

Here are a few fish I shot snorkeling this summer in the Keys and off St. Pete.

Shot this mutton in the Keys in 25'

RG in the Keys in 20'

Hog off St. Pete in 45' (this one hurt, sure was a long way back up). Deepest I've ever shot a fish freediving. I could not dive that deep all day.

There is lots of info at deeperblue forums. Chris Gardinal I believe teaches a FII class, and MikeD just got certified to teach the PFI class.

Its all about safety first, and improving depth second. And they really go hand in hand. Polespear and I just took it up a year ago, and we hunt in 50fsw no problem now. You will see your breathholds and bottom times improve significantly with a course.

Be careful pushing your limits like that without a partner by the way.

I have an extra copy of "The Manual of freediving" If you are interested, I'd be willing to sell.

Amazon.com: Manual of Freediving: Underwater on a Single Breath (9781928649274): Umberto Pelizzari, Stefano Tovaglieri: Books

J,

Are you going club meeting? If so bring that book and I'll take it.
