Be careful at Ft desoto I heard somewhere that it is illegal because it is a state park! I am NOT 100% sure on that but just double check to be safe! I live in St Pete and I know a few spots to shore dive! PM me some details on your skill/gear maybe we'll shoot some fish. Ty

Did you ever have any luck off Ft De Soto? I was thinking about running down there this coming weekend but didn't want to waste a trip if I can spear.

You wouldn't be allowed to spear in the park, but the Skyway area has some good shore spearing for lots of sheepshead, some snapper and some flounder. The sheepshead in the Bay are still breeding, so they're still good and fat. The seawalls on the Bay side both north and south hold a lot of sheepshead. Just make sure you start at least a 100 yards away from the fishing piers. The small bridge north of the Skyway (fishing is not allowed on it, so it's legal to spear) also has some good sheepshead, but this time of year you don't want to carry a stringer on you. You probably don't want to dive it, unless you can throw your fish in a kayak.

There's also usually an FWC officer patrolling the area in a truck. Just make sure you follow the rules about distances, have a flag, follow limits, etc. They're used to people spearing the area, so if you are following the rules and don't give him a hard time, he won't give you a hard time. Good luck.

    Cool

Anyone up for some kicking around today? I'm local and need someone to show me some spots again.

Got all my own gear. Besides a boat, kayak, wave runner, or similar. I normally swim out from shore.
