Default Apnea Walking

How does holding your breath and walking a slow, relaxed pace translate to diving depths? I unfortunately have like no way to get some actual diving time under my belt and a large pool is super hard to use this time of the year. So I am forced to do apnea walking.

I am curious how it translates into diving ability so I have a point of reference. I understand if I walk brisk it is not close to dive like depths. Water is more dense than air. And I understand diving down is a different animal than dynamic and dynamic is different than walking.

I JUST WANT A ROUGH IDEA. My walking pace is aprox 20ft in 10 seconds. If I walk say 200ft on one breath, slow and relaxed pace is that similar to 50ft dive? 75ft? More? Less? I understand there are a million and 1 varibles. Just would like an idea. If it does not relate at all please let me know!

I am just trying to get the best training I can since, I do NOT own a boat anymore and finding a dive buddy in Tampa Bay area is hard being new to spearfishing.

i do it and I think it helps...at least with training your muscles to work in a hypoxic state and to make you more comfortable with the feelings of apnea.

I have a preset distance that I walk ON GRASS.
it is about 100 yards.
I go:
breathing all the way
half way back apnea, breathe until back then apnea half and breathe half.
I do three lengths with half hold/ half recover.
one full walk breathing and then attempt the full length apnea.
i do three of these cycles usually never making it the full 100 yards.

the key is to not run. as i get close to the end I want to increase my pace to get there and that is the best part of the training..to learn to overcome an instinct because you know better.

always go on grass...I pushed too hard once and was glad to be on grass

hard to type..maybe this chart will help
