Default Good News in Nebraska

Just found out this morning our proposals for same limits as hook and line and posession limits passed!!!!!!!! The longer season did not ,but it is on the agenda. Special thanx to those who spoke at the meeting and a super special thanx to Dustin Nobles, the RMSA Nebraska State Representative who represented us with class and diginity. This is a huge victory and a baby step to passing other laws in other states.

Default Next Battle

Yes today was a huge success for the diving community! Now our next battle will be to change the date for game fish to June 1st from July 1st. The main 2 lakes for the change will be Lake Minatare and Box Butte Reservoir in the panhandle of Nebraska.

My question is why does it need to be June 1st? In reallity it really needs to be no different then Hook and line. I realise that DNR looks at spearfishing mainly at McConaughy. However there are plenty of great lakes that can be speared in Nebraska. I agree small steps are the way to go. We won today and next year we might get June 1st. However I will be pushing the entire time to have them open it up from Jan.1st. I think the rest of you should be asking for the same thing.
I would encourage everyone that spears in to Nebraska to try and take photos or document their time out on the water. The DNR is gonna need prof that we are not loading up dams and hot spots where it keeps other users of the lake from being able to use the same spots. This is the argument that is being used from the other side to keep us from extending our season. I think with time you'll see Nebraska Game and fish come around. Wyoming already did with the exception of the number of walleye per day. But I am working on that and feel that we all can change that now that we got Nebraska changed on daily and procession limits.
