Default speartip repair

I have several speartips that have had the small piece of rubber under the retaining flaps/barb (not sure what their called?) flatten out over time. Has anyone tried a repair on this? Where to purchased the correct size rubber etc... I had thought of using a needle glued to the rubber and just thread it through the hole...any thoughts. Paul Burkhardt

Take an old band and slice off a piece of thin piece of rubber, then use a paper clip to cut a small hole in one end of the piece. I thread a string through the hole and the rubber, pull it through and trim with nail clippers. Hope this helps. G/L

....thanks I'll give that a try, but would be nice to find the correct rubber....I'll try and look through Mcmaster carr etc to see if I can come up with it....was also told to wrap a rubber band several times under the barb to give it some spring...but I'm sure I'll be replaceing it over and over again...Paul Burkhardt
