Default Stealth bomber crash

I'm betting the closest this guy will ever come to another stealth bomber will be a plastic model he helps build for his kid.

I'm not so sure it was the pilot's fault. From what I understand water had something to do with a computer malfunction. That thing is so computerized that a human can't fly it without the computers.

read there was moisture on the sensors.....

you would think after 1.4B moisture on the sensors would be the least of their worries

Yes, it is a type of aircraft that has no aerodynamic stability without use of a complex computerized control system.

I also have read many times that the F117 and B-2 are too unstable to fly without zillions of computer adjustments. But there were several earlier flying wing designs by the Germans, and an American protype (the YB-49), during and shortly after WWII. That was obviously well before sophisticated computer controls, so does anyone know what specifically makes the B-2 unstable, as compared to other flying wing designs?

I believe all the previous designs were scrapped due to the stability problems.

I don't know the specific scientific terms for the phenomenon, but logic tells me that a plane with no vertical control (vertical stabilizer) is difficult to be controlled by hand.

Those types of aircraft are kept in certain areas of the country for reasons. There electronics and avionics are extreamly sensitive to humidity and cause alot of trouble when not properly maintained. Most of them stealth aircraft are kept in climate controlled hangers until they are ready to start up and leave. and the only time they ever have problems is when they are at Air Shows where they sit on the tar mack for 2 days collecting every foriegn particle known to man. This is one main reason why you wont see them in shows very much. I think i have seen 1 F117 in a air show in my life. if you go north they are more common to see in the air shows and on display for the public.
