Default regulator connector leaks!?

I was checking my gear getting ready to go out this weekend and lo and behold I have found that the thing that my regulator hooks to leaks when air pressure is turned on the tank. It has a hole that it looks like should blow air out of kind of like a burst disc. any idea what this is? I got to get this shiat fixed!

Sounds like a port on the first stage. Does it look like it can be removed with an allen wrench?

You said "What the regulator hooks too" That sounds like a O-ring on the valve? They commonly leak just change it if that is what you are talking about.

No offense, but the fact that you are using the phrase:

is telling me that you should get your ass into an LDS and get it handled by a professional.
I re-built regulators for years and your life is not something you want to mess with...

I took it to the dive shop, when they put my new regulator on it they didnt tighten it where it connects to the tank. Glad I found it out before I went down 100 feet.......

I think everyone that has replied (myself included) has been dooped. If not then this guy doesn't belong in a bathtub let alone the ocean.

I hope you feel more secure and more like a man now that you have tried to bring someone else down!

Sorry but I agree with Sealark.
Anybody who knows so little about their equiptment should not be diving at any depth than they can't reach the surface on one breath easily.

Which is why I only dive 60-80 feet and always with a buddy. and which is why I always inspect and test my equipment before I dive. So you are telling me that you can take apart and fix every bit of your gear? Must be nice.

Just because the name of particular item eludes me does not mean that I do not know what it does or how it works. In fact it is probably the only piece that I do not know the exact name is. But I see the mistake is asking questions on here and I wont do it again. Everyone wants to assume that someone is a dumb and has no idea what they are doing.

If I have offended you I am sorry. But I still haven't figured out if it was the O-ring on the tank valve that was leaking or not. Could you please clear this mystery up. Righty tighty lefty loosey.

The only thing I could think of was the yoke retainer. If not that then I have not a clue.

My thoughts too Charlie. (Connects to tank=1st stage [yoke]).

Well I took they tightened the yoke down where it connects directly to the tank, and it stopped leaking. Only thing is I hooked it up again to do my checks and it started leaking once again. I am going to have to take it back up there, still no idea what it is. I may just rent me a regulator instide of taking a chance with this faulty one until I am sure that it works.

Is the o-ring on the tank in good shape? (not dry, cracked, flat or missing), Did you try it on another tank?

Check to see if all your hose connectors coming out of the first stage and all the first stage plugs are tight. (that would be the shiny thing which attaches to the tank with the black rubber hose looking things that the thing you breath through and the gagues attach to).

Maybe use some soapy water so you can see exactly where its leaking-(it needs to be connected to the tank with it turned on a little, dont submerge your first stage in soapy water).

Hey, just some friendly ball busting. When you come out sounding like somebody that just bought some gear at a yard sale ...People around here ARE going to call you on it.

Get it checked out at your LDS.

I think part of the problem is not with you asking questions on this site because if you looked around you would find many instances of people asking questions and getting good feedback and help. I think the problem is just the opposite. The people on this site want to offer assistance and have tried to do so with the limited information you have given us. Is it leaking where the valve(the thing that sticks out of the tank) attaches to the tank? If this is the case you might want to walk away and let it empty, and while this is taking place decide on your new LDS. Or is it leaking where the regulator or first stage attaches to the valve?

Its leaking out of the yoke top part, I took everything apart and everything looks good o rings and all. I tightened the same but up on the yoke again really tight and that seemed to fix it, but thats the same thing they did yesterday. I am about to throw this thing the trash, I dont want to get down and it stop working or take it and it not work and ruin my trip.

Sure sounds like an o-ring in the yoke is not good and needs replacement. You shouldn't have to tighten it to much.

Agreed. Sounds like the o-ring in your TANK, not the regulator. That's why it is fine at the LDS because their tank o-ring is good.

Don't get pissy on here. I didn't attack you, all I said was it sounded like you should go to a dive shop and have this handled. And it appears you did. Kudos.

Rugged men like Dive4Blood lurk around this site. If you are going to hang, you need to have at least a slightly thick skin...
