So YOU're the guy.
Turn that dam thing off when you come into Zephyrhills. I'm trying to talk on my business phone. And the displays fall off the wall. Seriously!

Turn down the mids and 600HZ, then tweak it. I can get all my death and black metal to sound clean, but then again I use 10's only and stay away from 12's and 15's b/c the double bass gets all muddy, looses its punch.

Wow, I was not expecting an answer to that one but thanks! Can you help me tweak my jensen amp? They say it is rated at 1000w but it is the size of a paperback...
hehe

That a common size for a 1000w single channel amp.
When it comes to doing sub amps, I always tell people "don't be afraid to keep the gains down a little". They always fall in love with that thicker bass sound from the higher gains, but it doesn't translate well to music, except bass music. Therefore, you know those little subwoofer/amp remotes that have the gain knob you turn up and down, that was the thing that ultimately made me happy with my bass performance. The reason I say this is because every CD comes from a different studio and a different production, so they don't sound the same. When I turn on " Van Halen - Hot for Teacher " I have to crank my volume way up and my bass gain up a little bit because it was recorded at a very low volume setting. When I put in "Black Dhalia Murder - Nocturnal" it was recorded very loud so the gains do down just a little along with the volume. Those little 50$ remotes (if your amp didn't come with one) make a world of difference. Find a place to mount them and hide the cable (a phone cord) is the easy part. I'm the guy that got sick of the booty music being played at 100DB all the time, so I went and got my stereo to fight it. They turn their music up at stoplights to try and drown me out, but rap just doesn't have enough trebble to drown out all the screaming and blast beating of death/black metal. Dash mounted 9-12 band EQs are your friend too. Nice thing about them is you only have to buy them once, they almost never shit the bed. No moving parts. Sorry for the thread jack.
