Question Talkin' bout a rookie here !

Alright ladies and gents , here's the deal !
I'm so new to this game that i don't even know how to spell spear fishing.
I have no gun ( besides my winchester super x3 for ducks , geese , and turkeys ) I have no idea what the first step is or anything and worst of all I don't have the luxury of running out my back door and jumping into the wild blue yonder , fact is i Live in Illinois and if you've looked at a map lately it's nowhere close to an ocean.

I need all the advice i can get for this awesome sport , from A to Z .
I need to know about guns , tips , everything.
I will be hunting small fish in feashwater , anywhere from the surface to the bottom.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Jonathan

Hey, man, welcome to the Planet. There's a spearo on here with the handle Midwest Spearo - or something like that - who also lives in the Midwest. I think that he dives the lakes up in Wisconsin. He's probably your best bet for any kind of Midwestern, freshwater specific information.

Good luck and welcome to Spearfishermens Anonymous.

Andrew

twoferturks -

I'd gladly help you out - But right now I'm in FLORIDA! Trying to get my spearfishin' fix since things are frozen solid up in Wisconsin.

I can tell you this though...Only rough fish are allowed to be speared in Illinois as far as I know. In Wisconsin its roughfish & pan fish only -

Get good at shootin' bluegills & perch & you'll be a deadeye on bigger fish when you travel....Or carp!

I live in Delavan Wisconsin and would be glad to show ya the ropes if you decide to head up my way. Lake Geneva kicks ass & is crystal clear almost year'round.
