Default 8/4-5 Conditions

I've been diving a lot, but not posting up many condition reports. The diving has been good when the weather cooperates.

Dove near the tower on Saturday. Vis was decent at 30' or so in 100' of water. Big lobster and scamp. Huge scamp in fact- I didn't mind the one gag limit when we're pulling in scamp all over 15#. Vis was better in shallower water- closer to the tower, vis went up to 45. Fewer lobster, but some nice hogs. And oddly, no sharks for once.

Dove out of Atlantic beach on Sunday and hit a shallow wreck on the East side. Vis was great mid-water (to better see the huge sand tigers floating above the thermocline...), but was 20' on the bottom. Lots of flounder around, but the grouper were only found near the sharks. I managed to grab some grouper but I was beating off little sandtigers the whole time- and this was while wearing my shark shield. Someone had warned me that it didn't work on sandtigers and I'd have to agree with them. I know the shield was working because the pulses were making my fish on the stringer twitch while it didn't bother the sharks right next to it.

The warm water fish are here- one of the divers spotted a wahoo when ascending. We also heard reports of fishermen pulling some in. I also heard that pompano were being seen near the tower.

The most exciting thing was that Killer and Griller was spotted out on the ocean!

For the 'no pictures, no proof crowd'...

Note: no Florida Pushing. I would have put Paul's pictures on here, but he can't let go of his FP ways...

Looks like a half push at the most - the right foreman is obviously vertical & if he did more robust workouts at the gym he could maybe pull off the FP.

Unlike your under water shot (Huntinfish) of the grouper avatar with your under water push.

Nice scamps. I wondered why Paul's fish pictures always look so much bigger from up there

That's what I'm talking about a total FP! Paul is 6' tall or so, so with that FP, that 17# hog (respectable, right?) appears to be 40#. Ignore that little ziptie- that's one of those HVAC ones!

As far as you Dennis- I know about your rock and roll ways, dude. I don't have the guns you do to do a decent push!

What was Sunday like near the tower? We called it, didn't feel like gettin beat up.

On Saturday we hit some spots south of the tower but some rain drove his inshore so we hit the Raritan for the 1st time ever.

I ended up getting my very first AP.

So who wears the tightest spandex pants - Big Foot or the homo erotic lead singer of Judas Priest? I'm guessing that those leather forearm studded collars are an advanced beta test for the next generation Shark Shield that is effective even on sand tigers?
