    Default Scuba Spearfishing World Records

Attention all scuba spearfishermen. We are currently developing a plan to organize a Scuba World Record Organization. This will be done under the guidance of the FSDA. We welcome participation from anyone from the clubs that may have experience in this type of organization. We are developing the rules and qualifying guidelines so your input is certainly welcome. Please comment in this thread, email an admin, or relay your ideas to your club rep to be discussed with an FSDA rep.

Some areas open to suggestion now are organization name, back dating of records, cost of submission, type of award or certificate to be given upon certification of fish.

Howie, I've been reading up on this a little. I propose we draft the policy right here and get input from the forum membership.....kinda like wikipedia.

I propose an application fee of $30. $15 goes to support this site, and $15 goes into a fund to be used to protect spearfising in the general region that the applicant comes from. The funds could be distributed by applications that are approved by a forum-wide vote.

Don't be doing a Grogan on us here

I think it is a great idea for the FSDA to be the sancioning body for the Scuba records, I am more than willing to help set it up or help with rules.

Let me know if I can help.

I tried to find Rich Taylor's post about it on 'The Other Board' but couldn't. Seems like he had thought it out pretty well in that thread. It may not have been perfect but is was a very good start if someone else can find it... Kite?

I hope to get RT heavily involved. He is one of the smartest, best spoken and fairest people I know. No one has to ask to be involved, you already are. This is not going to be formed in a password protected backroom. Post your ideas here and let the FSDA committee draft the rules for review. I feel that $40-$50 is a more appropriate fee, and deduct the FSDA membership if they are a member. I want every dime to go to the FSDA for diver's rights and the diver's fund. Nothing needs to go to this site. All of the hard work is going to be on the FSDA, I trust them to invest the fees to benefit everyone. Just one guy's opinion.

I can't find it doing a search of Rich's posts and searching by the key word "record". I think that he may have posted it in the private FRA section. However, I also lost my FRA section privileges in the purge. Is there anyone who currently still has access to the FRA section who could do the search?

I sent Tony a PM asking to have my access restored. We'll see what happens.

Rich Taylor deleted it, so only a Moderator can see it, biggsy or Rob may be able to help.

Rob is out to dinner with a hot chick with big fake titties, so I doubt he will be around tonight.

It would be nice if we had a private section so Rob could post pictures of his hotties.

    Default Hell Divers

Chris just informed me that the Hell Diver's have been keeping excellent records for years so I did not intend to exclude a club outside of the FSDA. We hope to get submissions and have input from everyone. Any Hell Diver's want to be involved.

Howie, the FSDA is a Florida organization. My feeling is that, to the best extent possible, any World Record funds collected should be used to protect spearfishing in the general region they came from, regardless of who sanctions the records.

    Just food for thought.

Sounds fair John. We are going to move this thread to it's own category that will eventually evolve into the World Record thread. I am very excited about finally moving forward with this. Thoughts on state records, US records, overall world, back dating submissions that meet the guidelines??

I got my FRA access back, but no luck on the search. Bret was right. Maybe Rich kept a draft of his post on his computer.

Pattern them after the IUSA requirements, in our own words. Simplify them, and get them up. Take applications immediately.

Brett, can you make a thread with links to all other known spearfishing records?

I'm sending in my info for the 3.5 lb triggerfish I shot this past Saturday

I'd like to help in any way I can to put this together, it's something I've thought about a long time.

John, a good person to talk to would be Louis Rossignol because he could at least point you to the right person. The Louisiana Council of Underwater Dive Clubs has been keeping our state records for years... they might have some suggestions.

Thanks, Chris, we'll do that. Maybe Lou would be on the committee? I hope so.

I've seen the LA records before, impressive!

They are probably sitting on a few world records.
