Its kind of ironic- I had already eaten the fish before I knew it would have even been considered for a record.

But, apparently they get even bigger- the all-tackle record is 19#!

There should be a new Freediving WR posted up soon, pretty sure it was submitted not too long ago and it is around #17.

I shoot 8-10 pounders routinely here in Louisiana. I have to agree that 14 lbs is pretty good size.

yeah man, ive seen those kinda fish in the Fox River near my house. at first i thought Drum were nasty ass fish (cuz i only saw latinos fishing for them) but after trying one that i accidentally caught, i figured they werent half bad if you prepare them right. most of them in the fox are around 6-8 lbs but ive seen plenty of big'ns while out kayaking the Fox. Btw, REALLY nice Sheepshead. that is an absolute TANK!
It hurt. Much like when you accidently staple your tongue to the wall...

Really? I think Florida saltwater sheepshead is one of the best tasting shallow water fish. Definentally up there with snapper and grouper

Make sure you weigh it on a state certified scale, with a witness. Also, take more pictures of it, preferably with a date stamp.

Abbie, the woman that's putting together the Scuba World Records is spending the night, then we're going diving in the morning. I'll tell her. You can also email all that info to her at

    Abbiegail Eubanks

    Awsome fish by the way.
