I saw sperm whales a couple months ago, but I've never heard of killer whales around here. That picture of a pod of killer whales in the foreground and a rig in the background is just wrong.

How'd you like to be doing a drift in 5000' of water and have a pod come check you out?

I have never seen Killer's in the Gulf but it does not surprise me. During El Nino winters it is common for Great Whites to migrate into the Gulf. There were many Great Whites caught in the Gulf during the El Nino winters of 1992/93, 1997/98, 2002/03. However, you probably won't see any or many Great Whites caught in 2007/2008 season because shark fishing has pretty much been eliminated by NMFS.

PS............Killers in the Gulf? We can only hope that Killer Whales don't target humans.

Wow! I'm pretty sure that Killer Whales aren't much of a threat to humans. I believe they're smart enough to know the difference between us and a fish.

Seems that they are spots a few times every winter in the Gulf but I was thinking it was normally in Jan or Feb.

If I ever run into a pod out in the bluewater and they decide to eat me. You'll know it was them for sure because one of them will have a shaft with my floatline sticking out of its ass!

For real though, How wild would that be to look over an see a few swimming by as they size you up.

Dude! when I lived in the south pacific the locals would bbq Manatee and the blubber crisps up real nice! I would imagine the same for most marine mammals

Those are the real deal, at least in the video, the rig pics look like Killer whales as well, it might be pretty cool to see them.
