Default Services or Vendor Section?

I was thinking about a section for members to share information on people they have used to perform services. I think this could benefit others. i.e. boat mechanics in different areas, marine electricians, fiberglass techs, marine welders, boat lifts and contractors....... just to name a few.

It's very very hard to police, alot of spam will get posted and it will bring alot of people who have no interest in spearfishing to the forum. The problem is you get too many companies competing for business and it always turns into a mudslinging contest. The best way is to ask for help and start a thread describing what exactly your looking for and you'll get alot more honest answers from real people. The only way that I have seen it done effectivly is to require the posters to have a very high post count and ranking. You really dont want advise from soemone who is not a trusted member of the community anyway. The word of mouth concept really only works when you can verify that the poster has no affliation with the company they plug. It's sad that concepts that could be so beneficial to the community get abused this way but they do.

Dont get me wrong, I think it's an excellent idea. However I have seen the flipside and it's has ruined a few forums I used to visit. I would just say if a company did you right or exceeded your expectation by all means post it up for others to benefit.

If I buy a $125 beanbag chair and it flies out of my boat while trailering, is that covered under warranty?

Believe it or not we have made concessions for loss in certain circumstances but now that you posted it everyone will try to abuse our generosity and we'll have to stop doing that. You just ruined it for everyone else. See how vendor threads work
