Default A question, pls help

Hi I have a question for the more experience divers, here it goes, I have to clean the bottom of my boat and the question is can i use a regular electric air compressor if i hook a hose and a regulator to it?, my friend said i could but am no so sure i believe him, he said he has seen it done before, he also mentioned to use an electric compressor because that way there is no oil, there for no fumes that can harm me, like i mentioned above this is going to be use for cleaning only, shallow diving not deep diving, as you can see i do not know much of this i have been free diving and spearfishing for a very long time, but in regards to this matter i am lost, any help will be greatly appreciated, the other option will be to use a tank, but i do not own any, i have use tanks in the past and have the regulators and everything else but no tanks, please if this can be done can someone explain the set up or if something similar is possible it will work too, I thank you for all your help.

NO!!!! The air quality form a regular compressor is horrible!!! Have you ever drained the water/ rust from an air compressor tank? It's like stinky brown rusty water..... You do not want to breath that!

I was not talking about the compressors that have the tank, I was actually talking about the electric tire infiltrator, but thanks you make a very good point about the air quality.

Absolutly no do not use a utility compressor. The air is always contaminated with hydrocarbons from the oil in the compressor. Use your scuba tank with a long hose connected on the regulator going to the second stage. Also dont use any hose that isn,t made for breathing air. Regular air hose has bad chemicals in it from manufacture.
