Default Need Electronics Help!!!!!

I think my Lorance depth recorder has taken a crap. I have a snow screen. I have been talking to the manuf. who told me I need a new transducer. The problem is the transducer costs almost 1/2 as much as a new unit. Mine is so old I think it is time to upgrade.
What does everybody feel is the best for the money. I need it to be able to read deep as well as shallow, I also think I want a color screen. I think I want DF but need some advice. I like lorance but am open for sugestions.
I am layed up for 5 more weeks (surgery) so I figured it is a good time to get the problem fixed. I use a garmin handheld for my gps unit for portibility. But if anyone has info on a combo unit let me know. Thanks in advance!

I have an Lowrance LMS350A w/ an 8 degree transom mount transducer that I may be able to part with. Bottom machine works well, but the GPS is toast.

If you are in the St Pete area, you are welcome to borrow the transducer for troubleshooting purposes

Thanks, I wonder if the transducer is compatable with my unit for the troubleshooting? I will take the ride if you think it might work. Also do you know what killed the gps? I will PM you. Thanks

You don't have to buy it from Lowrance. They don't manufacturer it. Look around. Other than Hummingchicken they are generic. Just match the specs with the one you have now. Be sure to save the old plug.
